Welcome to this dedicated analytical space. Here, I aim to share perspectives that challenge mainstream media narratives. In a digital landscape overwhelmed by noise, populism, and misinformation, providing nuanced, evidence-based commentary is more vital than ever.
My journey began in Syria, where I was raised and educated as an engineer—a background that heavily shapes my analytical and structured approach to complex global issues. With deep roots in the Middle East, my work focuses extensively on the region’s geopolitics, social dynamics, and political Islam. However, my inquiry extends beyond regional boundaries to encompass global systemic challenges: democratic erosion, political extremism, mass migration, and the proliferation of conspiracy theories.
The post-Cold War promise of a cooperative global order has largely collapsed. Instead of redirected resources for human development, we face deepening socio-political divides, even within affluent societies. The core question driving this platform is straightforward yet critical: Why are we experiencing such acute systemic turmoil despite unprecedented technological and economic advancements?
Global issues—from climate fragility and economic injustice to conflict and mass displacement—are deeply interconnected. The events in the Middle East post-2010, particularly in Syria, are not isolated regional crises; they are symptoms of a broader transformation in the international order that impacts us globally.
The root causes are manifold: rapid economic shifts since the 1990s, the prioritization of capital over human and environmental security, and the failure of traditional institutions to guide public discourse. This institutional void has been rapidly filled by new media, often amplifying disinformation and eroding trust in expertise.
This erosion creates a dangerous feedback loop: as trust in institutions wanes, reliance on simplistic, populist narratives grows—nurturing polarization, isolationism, and extremism.
InfoSalam was created to foster rigorous dialogue, independent research, and critical thinking. By offering objective analyses, I hope to encourage readers to question dominant assumptions and engage constructively with complex realities. In our interconnected world, no crisis is truly local; our collective responses shape our shared future.
